Err... Who's the shmuck in front of the painting? :-)
Nice photo, who did it?...Isa...
The picture was taken from a friend of mine. She is a great photographer and I believe you know her, don't you?Ciao
Hey Gabriele,Great stuff on here. Amazing actually.I too just returned from basking in some Sargents at the Met in ny. His work is so much more breathtaking in person.
You must have seen the beautiful new book, all Sargent's later portraits. It's sublime. Unbelivably stupid that for decades he was more or less dismissed as a mere "pretty celebutante" portraitist...to see his work in person, his brush strokes...wow!
Im a big fan of Sargent. You must see Madame X at the Metropolitan Museum in NY if you haven't.
Marcelino- I did see it! That was one of the moments that I'll never forget.
If you ever get to Boston, you have to check out Sargent's El Jaleo at the Gardner Museum. It is absolutely breathtaking in person and pictures don't even come close tocapturing it.
Not me, I love Sargent too.
It was really nice to study your post. I collect some good points here. I would like to be appreciative you with the hard work you have made in skill this is great article.
